I have a friend whom has one female res. He was telling me that he bathes her. I have not done this and I am wondering if I should be?

What do you mean by bathing them? It sounds useless and stressful to the turtle to me. I see no point in doing it and wouldn't recommend it.
RES are aquatic. They should have constant access to water and therefore don't need baths.

I agree with you. They told me that there is a special wash that they use. So I was just wondering if I was not doing something that I should be for them. Thank you.

that sounds a little weird to me. why would you BATHE an aquatic animal? Why would you NEED to really?

Interesting. I think your friend might need to read through this forum to get a better idea of caring for his RES. *shrugs*

Maybe they are using Sulfa Dip?? And that's what they mean by "bathing" it??

If the shell is healthy and doesn't have algae on it, there's really no need to clean it. Some people do, however, periodically gently "clean" the shell (nothing special is needed, however, beyond a soft cloth or brush and some water)---it can give one a chance to inspect the shell more closely for any abnormalities in it.

If your friends are using a special product and the shell is healthy, it sounds like they're wasting their money.

I use to get my turtles baths lol . Like when I do a full clean of the tank . I clean them up a bit before I put them in to the new clean tank.
Please excuse any spelling and/or grammatical errors. I'm dyslexic.I do my best!

When our tank would get too dirty there would be a good layer of their slim on it. My gf would just take a Q-tip and gently clean them up a lil. lol they always bit the q-tip. its cute and funny how they act about it.

Just be gentel if you do decide to do it. but if your tank is clean and not really bad like ours was (pump got clogged) then dont worry about it.
