So my Morris got up on the basking dock and yawned....she's never done this before and it only happened this once, I've watched her multiple times and she's never done it before... Can turtles yawn?

i believe they can yawn. maybe more so fixing their jaw? because ive heard that RES and other turtles can detach their jaws in order to swallow large food.

i think that if you only saw it once, and not repeatedly then it shouldnt be something to worry about.

do get a second opinion on that though, im not sure.

Yup, they yawn once and a while. Sometimes they yawn under water. Frankie usually yawns in the morning. She thinks she's people :P

Yeah, my little turtle Piper crawled out of her new favorite sleeping spot this morning, looked at me, then stretched out her front feet and gave this huge underwater yawn!
