General Care Discussion :: shell rot turning black?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

so my little hatchling had some sort of shell fungus or shell rot. i cleaned all the white out that i could and have been treating it. but now where some of the fungus/rot was, it seems to be turning a bit black? is this normal?

i have been partially dry docking her and giving her 24/7 uvb, letting her swim around for about an hour a day. i am treating her with betadine and a fungus cream.

Image

see the black spots forming around the scutes where the fungus/rot was? do you think treatment is working?

Is the shell smelling any worse? What kind of cream are you applying to the fungus infected areas?

oh yea about that tail thing...i have no idea!! i have no idea, but i almost think it's normal.

the tail was extra long as a new born, and then one day it just started to fall off and within a day it was gone. but the tail looks really normal to me..so i have no idea!

oh and i am applying betadine and a fungus cream to the shell.

it seems that the fungus and the whitish spots are all gone, but since the fungus was around the scutes and the area got eaten away, all the scutes want to peel off. should i just leave the scutes?
