I got a fluorescent bulb and it keeps flickering, is this normal or is something wrong with it? I don't think it is supposed to flicker, does the light just need to heat up for something, or is the bulb a dud?

Does it just flicker a little when you first turn it on? If so, then it's normal for a fluorescent bulb. If it continues to flicker even after it's been on for a minute or two, then it's probably a sign of a weak bulb and you should try to return it.

Yeow--those scutes need to shed. Make the turtle is basking under good lighting---some time in unfiltered sunlight would really help with shedding.

The clicking noise could be from him/her rubbing his shell against a hard object in the tank. When Nyx is shedding she rubs herself against her thermometer or her bubble disc and it does make a bit of noise.
