it might take a few days for it to get used to the new environment

well its never recomended that you put another turtle with an RES even if it is another RES. if you do decide to put them together it will probably take awhile to get used to yet another environment. you should probably wait a few months

I'd wait at least 90 days, that's a standard quarantine period for turtles.
Also, look into whether RES and sidenecks are compatible. If they don't have the same needs and the sideneck is less aggressive, it won't be a good match. You don't want him to be bullied.
Keep in mind that even if it looks like it may be a good idea, they may not get along, so you may need two set ups anyways.

You wait 90days because reptiles don't always show signs of illness right away. It can take a long time for their symptoms to get bad enough that they can't hide them any longer. Plus, it takes so long for them to recover that it's really quite a risk to chance getting two turtles sick.

I thought the turtles were already separated, if they aren't you should do so.

Great news he is a little more active. I am peppered mad becuase my tank was late.

And can only keep in small carrying case thing. I had a Rubbermaid but it just seemed like the water was getting too cold . I am thinking about switching into the carrier for a day and giving the other turtle the tank for a while .

You're keeping the turtle in a small carrying case?

You need to get a proper set up as soon as you can. The longer he's in an inadequate setting, the more likely that he'll die.

I was going get my tank this Friday. But something came up on the other person's end. So Now I have to wait until Tuesday. I put him in a Rubbermaid, but the water seemed to cold .

That is why I asked would it be ok if I put him in with the other for just a little bit.
