no, I don't work at a park...I actually got the name back when I still wanted to join the military. I live in NY, I had just been in CT for vacation for a week.

I'm speechless. I've seen a turtle in that condition. The wrinkled part of her shell reminded me of a chemical burn.

I can never understand how a human being could allow an animal to look like this. There's no way she got this condition in the wild.

You're amazing for taking her in and I hope she can finally find a good home and some well deserved rest with you.

I can't even imagine where she would have gotten them from. One thing is for sure, I can almost guarentee shell will never look like a normal turtle. I think her shell will still have deformities even after treatment. Just my thought

It most likely will. It just makes her more unique. As long as she is healthy and happy, appearance doesnt matter much. I jave two disabled dogs, one of which is paralyzed and when it first happened so many people were like "wow you should put it down" or "its cruel to keep it alive" a vet we took him to even said "its not worth the money to keep him up" to which I responded to all is thats bull crap. Now, the paralyzed pup is almost walking again and is in no pain and is one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet. So glad I didnt listen to their advice. anyways, getting off topic, but a different looking shell will just make it unique. Its still a beatiful turtle and you are beautiful for rescuing it.

I bet that turtle is living it up right now compared to what has happened to her in the past.

It is my suggestion that you make sure his diet is correct and that she gets a lot of calcium added to the diet. Make sure that the basking area has a working uvb light and heated to 91 degrees. I would suggest that you dry-dock her a few hours per day until the shell clears up. When dry-docking make sure that the temp is warm. Some of the others may want to chime in on this one. B.
