my husband promised to clean it out tomorrow, it still has gravel and fish food, and other yuccy stuff in it (fish just died yesterday) he is about an inch and a half, give or take. he squirms alot, and he looks at me like I'm crazy!

he can swim in this thing, and he seems like he docks, and swims, docks and swims...

I can't believe the "pet store" in the flea market actually told me he can stay in this thing for a while, I'm so glad I found this site! thanks for all of your good advice!

as deceiving as this may sound, many of us have found that petstores do a horrible job when it comes to turtle knowledge, cats and dogs usually are what petstores specialize in (if anything at all).

i think temporarily, before you get everything.
once your husband is able to clean out the tank, take out the gravel and everthing. you should fill the tank up about 1/4 the way then buy all the stuff. make sure the water isnt too cold. again like i said, the turtle should be okay for now in the small container. not a while, but for now haha

Thank you so much for everything, I found a store that sells only reptiles so hopefully they will be OK, the turtle will be in his/or her new, much larger home tomorrow, I will do everything you advised!

I can't thank you enough for the great, and fast information!

Please make sure you clean and disinfect that 100gallon tank! I'm not sure what your fish died of or what "and other yuccy stuff" is and I don't want to scare you but it could make your new lil turt sick! A 10 part water, 1 part bleach solution with a good rinse should do the trick and you can always use salt as an abrasive as long as you rinse it all out.

Good luck!
