General Care Discussion :: White Flacky Stuff

Recently there has been this weird white flaky stuff that floats on top of the water in my turtle tank. Any Ideas of what this might be? Also its not cuttle bone.

55 gallon tank
One RES, Female
XP3 filtration

I've had a protein slick that was somewhat like that.
It was mostly clear floating, but when you touched or agitated the surface it bunched up into white chunks.

If you can, aim the filter output to the surface of the water to agitate it, or get a bubbler

Nope, I cant get a pic of it because I dont have my battery charger here. Grrr its always when you want somthing that you cant find it!! The output does already aggitate the water so Im not sure it is a protien slick. But anyways it is gone now. I'll let you know if it apears again and I'll be sure to try and snap a pic . I am going to try and get a bubbler. Im not sure though arnt they kinda lound. I have one for my fish tank and it makes a vibraty sound but its as bit old. Do the new ones make as much noise?

get a air pump with feet...I know that sounds funny but if they have feet theres less vibrating sound cause they arent sitting on something.
