In the first sentence, swimlib mentions that he (or she?) is feeding the turtle spinach as a veggie, but it's on the not recommended list of food on the main site.

I know it's not part of the actual topic of this thread, but I just wanted to point it out.

He said he feeds him spinach or romaine lettuce every other day.
Spinach isn't good for a lot of animals. My turtles (the babies) LOOOVE butter and red leaf lettuces so those are a nice option in place of the spinach. You can get it cut up in those Dole salad bags. In case anyone is wondering why spinach is bad, it blocks calcium absorption.
