yes i am referring to the scutes. and we are using clotrimazole cream we are just not using the methods that i had described earlier or in another post. not sure which. i had the idea of changing meds and application and so forth. even i am getting confused now. i have been involved in a lot of action on here tonight along with my other chores.

but to recap

yes we are using clotrimazole.

no we are not using any other ointments treatment or applications. well apart from the single salt water bath he had today.

yes the water conditions are ok

yes he sheds quit a lot more than i believe he should. my description it accurate there is no point in streatching the truth as it could make things worse.

my initial thought is that the cream is causing the shell to shed more to replace the damage to the scutes with fresh new shell as it heals.

It is highly untypical for a turtle to shed the same scutes several times a week. Usually when they need to shed layers upon layers of retained scutes, the layers come off at once all stuck together. However, it's possible your turtle is shedding in a non-typical way for some reason.

How does the shell underneath a shed scute look? Is it dark and solid and healthy looking?
