Alright so i got my turtle for my dorm, hes quite happy and i have everything that a good healthy turtle needs! :D

but im just curious as to one thing, ive never been in my room when he basks, when i get back from class, he instantly jumps off his floating cork and goes swimming

are all turtles like this or is it because hes still new? its only been like 3 days, but im just curious

also, ive tried feeding him in a seperate area then his aquarium, but he doesnt eat. i susually put him in a tupperware with his tank water and the food, but for now, i feed him in his tank then :S and the ghost shrimp eat up left overs

thanks for your time :)

Mine have been like that on most occasions it's very very rare to be in the same room while they bask

My turtles got use to me being in the room all the time so i can be within inches of them basking and they dont mind, just let them warm up to you. but yes it is normal.

well my turtle does it sometimes. most of the time because she gets startled. but if i approach her slowly, sometimes she just stays there & i can get REALLY close. several times she just stays there & continues basking. most of the time i can get as close as right in front of her & she won't move :D   :D !
