General Care Discussion :: Weird Turtle basking behaviour?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Wed Oct 22, 2008 5:46 pm   Weird Turtle basking behaviour?

alright, me again, just a quick question.

On a good note, my turtle basks when im in the room! i think he's realized that im the one that feeds him and i dont hurt him haha

but i noticed that when he basks he actually is lying on only his shell and his back legs are like flipped upwards towards the light and his front legs are tucked into his shell, hes healthy and swims happily, its just kinda a weird look :S

normal?

i think it is, im just checking

thanks for future help

He's absorbing the amount of heat he wants to regulate his temperature.

It's the superman pose! Almost every turtle I've seen do it.

Isn't it great!!

When Sheldon was younger, he basked with front flippers wide open in the Superman flying pose, now he does that adorable basking with his back legs all stretched out!

I just posted a recent scrapbook page I created for Sheldon with his Superman pose!

I've never seem my turtles do it.They stick both of their hands out and feet, and just lay there. They don't like raise their feet toward the light.
