and no problem with the turtle trying to eat the silicone or rip it off?
I have two female red ear sliders.
Chimpy - 5.5 inches
Chompy- 6.0 inches
Both were born about 7/2007
Got them -- 9/2007

Its just a thin coating, even less than what is used in the corners of the tank where the glass meets, so he doesn't even notice it. None of it has come off. I expect it to last just as long as the silicone holding the tank together.

the silicone idea is really smart to prevent stuff bumping around in the tank - brad, if you do this just make sure it's aquarium safe silicone, meaning it won't release harmful chemicals into the water and is safe to be used around animals. other silicones can be dangerous, so I just wanted to point that out :)

My turtle has bit off a few small pieces. Not enough to cause any leaking, but I do need to do some re-sealing soon.
