Ok so spike is about a year old, is almost 4 inches long. well the past few weeks he makes this noice every once in a while. Hes been doing it abnormaly more today than any other day.

But besides the hissing sound he makes when i pick him up, he has this weird sound that i could only describe sounds like the sound baby gators make when they are babies. Is this normal? Some kind of mating call or what? I've never heard of them making this noice before so i just want to check in and see if its normal???

Any signs of runny nose or swollen eyes? Lopsided swimming, lethargy, troubled breathing? I guess you need to keep a close watch on Spike for more abnormal signs. Respiratory problems aren't fun to deal with.

Or perhaps there are other opinions... :)

If i'm not mistaken, it's kind of a squeak/chirping noise? RES shouldn't make any noise, other than "hissing" when they pull into their shell. Read up on the symptoms of RI and keep an eye out for them. Tell us a little about your habitat, tank size, filtration, lighting, temp, etc. We might be able to make some suggestions.

The only noise my RES have made were a whistling sound (from heavy breathing) and a couple of summers ago, they made a couple of croaking noises. It was odd, I think the warm weather may have contributed to it.
