There's a cloudy film-like thing over Zoe's eye. You can still her eye from the side, but looking at it from above, it looks like its closed. Though, this is only when she's in the water, and only on her left eye. Should I be alarmed that there could be something wrong with her eye?

That's probably just her eyelid. They look like film sometimes and they're somewhat translucent, so the first time I saw Tank with his eyes closed I was really confused.

Ok, something is definitely wrong with her eye. She keeps her eyelid closed, the clear-like one and often she closes her eye completely. Even when keeping the right one open. What could be going on?

Well,I've seen my cousin's turtles eyes like that before.I don't know if that's like a clear eyelid cover,and then just a normal eyelid.I don't know!

It could be an eye injury or infection. Have you tried Zoo Med Turtle Eye Drops? They are readily available at pet stores. They are soothing in case of mild irritation. If you haven't already, try them, following the instructions on the package. If you don't see improvement right away, you may need a prescription from a vet to treat it.

When I first got my turtle from a friend who essentially abused the turtle to no extent I changed the water right away (it was...well you couldn't see through it, dirty sand too etc..) the turtle's eye developed a gross infection. I didn't know if it was supposed to have the really dirty water after. But my dad brought home the eye drops mentioned and after 6 days it cleared up Euclid's eye completely. It was first filmy, then almost doubled in size and looked extremely painful and gross. So assuming it is in the early stages of that, indeed the drops work and well. Also on the bottle it mentions they may be applied once a week, one drop as a "preventive". So you could try that too incase it is just an odd eyelid. If it gets worse apply 2 times a day (which is how it is described on the bottle). No harm. You lose money for the eye drops....but for the turtle's health its more of a gain, really.
