Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So if any of you were following this thread, http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20204 you,ll know i was thinking of rehoming my turtles. Well anyway today a friend of mine told me to come over because one of his cousins from mexico gave him a turtle, and he didnt know what it was he wanted to know if i wanted it. From his description i thought it was bog turtle. I went over there, and in a clear plastic 1/3 pan that you would use in a steam table, with a handful of gravel, and about a centimeter of water there was a RES. He said it was a year old, but the turtle was only about an inch long.

So i decided, im going to take it in, and put it in the 30 gallon i have at the house, until i can find a permanent home for it, i was appalled. I felt so bad for the little thing. Its pretty cool though it has a red stripe on its head in addition to the ones on the sides. I told him all the stuff it needed, and he told me he didnt want it, so im gonna take it home, and get it everything it needs until i can "adopt it out".

I went from thinking about getting rid of both of my turtles to bringing in a baby. Lol lifes crazy.
