Let me confirm....."many turtles wont eat for a few weeks" ? ? My little guys haven't eaten for several days...When do I need to be concerned ? I thought maybe it was the pellet food that I have been trying to feed them...

I wouldn't worry for the first week. You can definitely try a different brand of pellets, ReptoMin floating sticks are usually well received. As long as your turtle isn't lethargic or constantly sleeping, the lack of food is okay for a bit. After a few days, you can try soaking some pellets in tuna juice and see if they are receptive to that. If they still aren't eating at the end of a week, you can try giving them what we consider treats, like fish, tuna, chicken, or boiled egg whites. Make sure all of the people food is thoroughly cooked and cooled.

Yes. Luckily sunlight is full of it so if you can't find UVB light bulbs anywhere, take your turtle outside and expose him to real sunlight for an hour or so every sunny day.

UVB rays is neccessary! Yes, you can take them out daily to sun if you have the time. If and when you get a uvb light make sure you get a .50 and not a 10. The stronger will damage the eyes. m.

Caveat emptor, always do research first before buying a living creature, whats sad is ppl buying animals with no interest in the animal other than cuteness, get ready for some high maintenance cleaning and sterilizing (especially around young children), that turtle will be around till your daughter is your age

remember this is a minimal handled pet, the more touching the more damaging it is for you and the turtle, germs for you and stress for it, its a reptile not a puppy

i would not rely on taking them outside for UVB. alot of times weather wont allow that. you are better off getting a 5% UVB bulb.
