im having a problem with my suction cups on my dock and air wands sticking. They seem slimey as does the sides of the tank. But the water is clear, no smell in tank. Ive tried scrubing sides with my brush but no help. Any suggestions

Most suction cups only last a while, since the water is hard on them. You can try pouring boiling water over them, to make the softer, or you can replace them.

replacing them is really the only option. you will rarely (if ever) find a tank owner that NEVER has algae or some water "problems", even though algae does not real harm it just looks ugly to some people.

all the suction cups that I have end up being replaced at some point.

I keep reading about algae...Why dont people put plecostamas in their tanks ?

Turtles love to eat plecos.

Yeah... they tend to be MIA after awhile and the turtle is to blame.

And besides the fact that turtles eat them, a lot of pleco's are lazy and won't keep your tank clean. Then they get large and turn into poop machines themselves.

out of all the plecos ive had in my tank not one of them made a difference in the amount of algae. the snails helped somewhat but not enough for me to try it again.

i wanted to try snails but... :/ i wouldnt knoww hat kind to get in case rolo decided to eat them and i dont care to be fishing ore than a turtle out of a tank when i clean it

ive had mystery snails.

The best ones for keeping a tank clean in my experience were a trio of rosie red minnows. They were from a group of six that I put into Spot's tank that managed to escape being eaten. They lived for a long time. Spot eventually ate two of them, and this fall I put the third one outside in the pond to keep him from eating it. I've never had much algae problem so I don't know if they would have helped with that but they did a good job of keeping the bottom of the tank clean.
