Hello,
Does anyone know of a good vet for my red ear slider. I want a vet that has treated RES before and works with reptiles.

My boyfriend found my RES about 2 years ago in the streets, his shell is different from normal. It kind of looks like the mexican sombreros, he mustve not received UVB. And now I found (again) long stringy white worms in his tank. I cleaned the tank about a month ago, and they were gone, but again they came back. He also poops out thread (occasionally). Im thinking it is from artificial plants I had in the tank, but this was more than 3 months ago, I dont know how he can still poop out thread.

Anyways, If someone can please recommend a vet in NYC, also include prices you were charged please thank you.!
1 RES- ROCKY... my boyfriend found him on the streets of Jackson Heights, NY... he's my lil ninja turtle!

Your boyfriend's RES has tapeworms. He'll need treatment prescribed by a vet.

Good luck!

Hi, how is he doing? A member, Littlecakes, has used St. Marks Veterinary Hospital / Dr. Luk and had a good experience. You can PM her for details/costs, etc.

Hi there,
Sorry, I haven't checked-in in a while.
YES, Dr. Luk at St Marks Veterinary on 9th Street btw 1st and 2nd Ave is GREAT. I love her.
I've only taken my turtles to one other vet since I've moved upstate so I don't have much to compare the prices there too but I would say that for NYC, the prices are generally average but Dr. Luk is knowledgeable and sees turtles often. I have been in the waiting room with other turtle owners before.
http://www.stmarksvet.com/ - for tel etc.
Make sure to see Dr Luk. There is another vet there that sees exotics who I've only spoken to on the phone with. Was nice, but I know from experience that I can recommend Dr. Luk very highly for sure.
Good luck!!
