General Care Discussion :: Pet insurance for your turtle?

Does anyone have pet insurance for their turtle? I am looking into getting it for just Ichigo because I feel like there is a good enough possibility that she will always be very sensitive to illness/sickness and considering I paid over a thousand dollars to fix her up last year when I first rescued her, thought maybe it was a good idea.
Just curious to see what others think and have done.

i once had pet health care on my turtle but then canceled it because it was mainly in LA

i don't know much about pet insurance. i just know to read the find print as far as what's covered and what's not. how are both your little ones doing???

The only one I had found so far that did reptiles as well as cats and dogs was http://www.petinsurance.com/ and the online quote I got was $9 a month and I took a look at the benefit schedule and it looked like it would be helpful for sure if Icihigo were to get sick again

I figure, if my husband gets this new job he interviewed for last week, I might try it for a year. It's only $9 a month.

mzkitty - The two are fine. Pan-kun fluttered for the first time today at a stuffed sea turtle I got for Christmas when I put it up to his tank. It was amazing to see a new behavior. Ichigo, I am convinced, knows it's winter and has been much less active since about November. I keep checking for any other signs of illness but none, so I still think it's just that she "knows" somehow.

It's cheaper if you can pay the full year cost (only $84 per year, as opposed to monthly, which would cost you $108 per year). I'd call the company to make sure everything sounds okay, but it looks really good. I'd be tempted to get that for my turtle! Esp. if surgery will only then cost me the $50 deductible and then 10% of the surgery.

I think it could be a great idea if the vet you prefer accepts it. Let us know how it goes!

Steve - I think you can use it with whomever you like and you just submit the bill to the insurance company and they reimburse you for part of the cost.

I will for sure let you guys know if we get it and use it.

My aunt looked into getting insurance for her diabetic cat, but she found it was more hassle than help. I'm interested to see if yours turns out better littlecakes.
It would be a nice safety net if you have a turtle prone to surgery.
On the other hand, paying 20-40 years worth of insurance could add up quite a bit .
