Some Carolina Diamondback Terrapins need a need home. Should I save them.

Are you planning on putting them in with your current turtle?

If so regardless of personality that's a BIG risk. They could transfer diseases or parasites.

The last owner said they were clear, are i could check the new ones pooh first .

Joey do you have the space and funds for completely separate set ups if they don't get along? Just because DBTs may be known for being less aggressive doesn't mean your turtle will take kindly to invaders which is likely how the new ones will be seen.

I'm not exactly sure about Carolina Diamondback Terrapins, but my boyfriend and I have several Northern Diamondback Terrapins. They are very friendly, with people that is, but they should never be placed with any other turtle ever. This includes their own breed. They do this thing where they nip at other turtles feet.

We initially had all ten of our terrapins housed together, but have since seperated them all. It looks like its cute at first because they can't hurt eachother when they are hatchlings but once they get a little bit older they can really hurt one another. One of our turtles was hurt so bad that for a while we thought he would lose his whole foot.

If you have the room to house the terrapin in a seperate tank then I would go for it. They are absolutely beautiful turtles with sweet personalities when they are alone. But when they are with any other turtles they will attack and not stop.

Also on a side note, terrapins are brackish water turtles. They can live in fresh water, but it has to be kept extremely clean. When they live in freshwater they are more prone to skin infections and shell rot. Unless you are willing to put a lot of extra time into your terrapins environment, you should really keep them in brackish water.
