General Care Discussion :: gravid behavior in a hatchling?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My res is about an inch and a half in length now so im not even sure what gender it is, it's acting like a gravid female though. swimming franticly and digging all the time in the gravel ( the gravel is still almost bigger then it's head) the only thing different from being gravid that i can tell is the digging is with the front legs and allways in the same general area, trying to get underneath the biggest rock in the tank which seems to be it's favourite.

everything else is normal, water, lighting, basking, eating.

I just dont know whats going on and im concerned about the possibility of premature eggs, which is totally messed seeing as the turtle isn't even a year old yet.

My little boy likes to dig in his sand a lot even if there is nothing there to dig for. I'd guess that your turt is probably just playing.

When I had gravel before  Hoyte would dig dig dig. Only about 1-2 inches in length though.
