I had a filter similar to that one..it was just green and it was "meant" for turtles
anyways, I got sand stuck in it took before, and I thought it was a lost cause, but all you have to do is detach the bottom where the what flows in and clean it a bit.
if its NOT that filter..then I don't know haha sorry
