I got a RES from someone who said they couldnt care for him anymore Hes 5 yrs old approx 7 inches and i have a 50 gal tank that came with him. His water temp lightening basking all of that is fine. Spent alot of money making sure of that. They gave us all kinds of info on him which most of has turned out to be wrong so now i am really concerned with shedding info. I dont honestly have a clue what to look for and this is what they told us. That he will occasionaly shed (made it sound like what a snake does) HIs shell will turn all white and you have to help him get the shedding off they would put him in a sink and use tweezers on him. They said it was shucking. Now i have read alot of this site and i have not seen that anywhere and it has me very concerned about him and if he has any damage to him because of this. He was just at the vet a few weeks ago and the vet didnt state any concerns. And told me some info we should be doing with him in regards to food and such. So can someone give me some better info on shedding and what to look for, how often it happens, do i need to do anything for him during it. Any info would be so helpful. I really love this turtle in the short time i have had him and im trying to make sure that he gets the best possible care considering i have no clue what a turtle needs i think so far im doing ok but i would love input.
