is it a good idea to let my turtles out of their tank and let them bask in the actual sun..??? obviously under good supervision

and if you guys do that, how do you guys do it?? blankets, bags with towels in it, mini pool??...etc..

I have an outdoor pen enclosed by chicken wire. About twice a week a put them in there for about 20 minutes. Be sure some of the area is in the shade or your turtles get restless (at least mine do).

I go outside with Spot and watch him while he wanders around in the back yard. When it gets a little warmer, I'm going to put him in our back yard pond - which is (I think) turtle-escape proof - for the summer.

I let my turtle basking outside for 30 minutes or maybe an hour in kiddie pool.

This pool no longer used bcoz my cat nipped at it and I change with this foldable 60 gallons pool. Wide and more swimming room.

I happen to have a large Havahart wire trap which the turtle can not get out of and keeps dogs, cats, birds, etc out. If I keep them out for over two hours I put a pie pan of water for them to get wet or cool off. Seems to work well. m.

My corridor is rented (Aunt live next door too) so it's rather big.
I covers off areas I don't ever want them to hide in with Coroplast and yeahs, I leave them out for 2-4 hours depending .

SG's weather is the best for them!!

I don't let my RES wander outside (supervised) as much as I used to, and don't let the painteds out in the yard at all (they hate it). But I do put them out in stock tanks for the summer.

I also live in Florida and now that the temperature is moderate, I bring out my RES for some outdoor recess. Of course, I supervise them enough though my female is "house trained." She usually doesn't venture more than 10 feet from any entry (unless it's time to find a nesting site).
