General Care Discussion :: New type of medicine

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I came back to the states this week to see some family. I was ored and decided to go to Petsmart and see what they are selling for turts and reptiles in general. Anywho I saw this medicine for parasites and there was another one as well, can't remember what is was for tho. Is this stuff legit or what. They say you feed it instead of your turt's diet during treatment. Really that doesn't sound right, is it?

Someone recently posted about medicated food (as preventative measure), it's something we generally avoid as it seems a bit gimmicky.

I always recommend that it's better to feed a turtle it's normal diet than to give it something new on the fly like that. Chances are, since RES are so picky, they probably won't want the new food, and their regular diet is healthier for them anyways.
