I just bought a baby RES (about 2 inches long), and I swear he's in love with his filter!

I know he's probably just hiding and trying to get out of the water, but he'll put his legs on the canister of the filter and his shell on the side of the tank and just sort of hang out there.

I do have a basking platform with a heat light, and the filter is nowhere near that, so I don't think he's doing it for warmth.

And I can't seem to get him to get used to the platform to dry off either...

Make sure that it's not possible for him to either get sucked by the filter or physically trapped by it. It happens too often and you'd want to take the necessary precautions.

My RES do the same thing!
I just put them in a new tank and that is Theodore's favorite spot it seems like.
And it's on the opposite side of the basking landing.
