when basking, my turtle shell turn to white. really white, when back to water, drink. then the shell became soft green. his shell soft, but his shell color. before i put the basking area, his shell green, but after i put basking area, the shell became white.

dont worry about the UVA and UVB, my maid in morning, bring him to down floor and bask him. also his aquarium is on the sunlight place, in front of windows, on his basking area, they are so many algae. i hope you understand, there are no place to put my aquarium except this palace. because apertemen is small, right?

You probably know that the tank being in front of windows and the light (and warmth) the water receives is contributing to the algae issue...

The shell turning white as it dries is either a residue of minerals from the water, the shell flaking from dryness or a shell issue (fungus?) that's causing the scutes to shed improperly.

A shell fungus infection only softens the shell in the very most advanced stages. Initially, the fungus grows on the shell surface (or between scutes when scutes are retained). It damages the shell and eats into it, but only very slowly. Until the infection is quite deep, the shell is still hard.

Fungus tends to start in one or two spots and spread outwards from them until the whole shell is engulfed.

Here's my turtle's story. He had shell fungus and has recovered.
