General Care Discussion :: What should I do when leaving them unattended?

I'll be leaving town for about 3 days...my house will be empty and I don't trust anyone with my baby turtles...so what should I do?

the last time I left them like this, I left many vegetables for them, and they ate them all up (I don't did they eat it in one day or really eat them day by day) and when I came home, they ran away from me

I don't want that to happen again...it takes few hours from them to get used to me again.

If it were me, I would do absolutly nothing.

You could try an automatic fish feeder. If you break the pellets up smaller, they usually fit through with no problem.

For three days, they'll be fine (as long as they can't escape).
When I'm away for a long weekend or something, I usually give them an extra piece of lettuce, and that's about it. The lights are all on timers.

3 days is nothing in terms of feedings, i guess the biggest concern are escapes, if there is a history of it, if so make sure they can't

they probably ate all their food in one day, turtles don't ration food

Yes leave the filter on.

If the RES in your avatar are the ones you're talking about, a little less food for a few days won't hurt them. Leave some food, but don't worry about them eating it and having nothing until you get back.

You mentioned timer (singular). Unless you have a MVB, get two for the heat light and UVB light.

Don't take it personally if they seem to run away from you.

They should be easy to find---a hardware store, Walmart, for example. I recently got a 2-pack of timers for $1.50 at Walmart (clearance section).

Novroz, I find my timer sell at supermarket, the hardware section. But quite expensive for 2-pack of timers cost RM30 in here.

That's fine. My point was that they're easy to find, I imagine they're not so hard to find where you are either.
