At night my turtles try to dig underneath rocks and stuff i have in my tank. do they like being underneath something when sleeping? do i need to put something in the tank they can get under really easy? i have a floating turtle dock they go under but i guess its not low enough.

Sounds like they like to go under things to sleep. The biggest thing is make sure they can't get stuck or trapped. You could add an underwater hide for them. I've seen flower pots, coffee mugs, and a section of large PVC pipe for hides.

Snif -- That is normal for them to try and find something to hide under while sleeping on the bottom. If you wish to put something in your tank make sure they can get out. I find the best is something that they can go through and not have to turn around; they will find more comfortable. Good Luck!!

I use an underwater tunnel.

Just note that with tunnels, if a turtle outgrows it, they can get stuck. If it's submerged, and they are stuck, they can drown.

my turtles sleep in the middle of the water or on the bottom.

well i took some of this pipe stuff i think its for tree trunk protection or something like that


and i cut it to make a tunnel







Should i put holes in the top or the side or anything like that?

snif -- you may want to put some very small holes to let out any air bubbles. Being black the turtle will probably like it. 1/8" hole would be good. m.

Neat! I don't think you need holes necessarily, but like mike said, it will let a little bit of air out.

Yep i noticed the air bubbles were a problem as soon as i added more water. so i ended up cutting little slits in the top.
