Yeah, if you know how much extra you added, just remove that much. So if you think you put in like 25% too much, do a 25% water change, or up to 50% water change. Then just don't add any in for this batch of water.
Check out the sticky about gravel. If you don't remove it ASAP, they will eat it, which with smaller turtles can cause serious blockages quickly. It can cause blockages in bigger turtles too, but smaller turtles would only need to really eat one piece. You may also notice that they poo out the gravel for months afterwards, so just grab what you see come out!
The rule on the board is not to put anything not edible in the tank that is smaller than your turtle's head. Remember that smaller turtles grow, so if you don't want to replace what you get, get these river rocks, you can get them at craft stores, Walmart, pet stores, tons of places. They should run about $2-5 per bag, so just look for a deal!
