Anyone using live floating plants that are safe for RES? Also where do you get them from?

I don't know where you get them, honestly.

BUT, a lot of people like to use water lettuce, duckweed, and water lilies. Water lilies don't last very long, but, water lettuce and duckweed seem to be much easier to grow and maintain.

i've seen success with water lettuce in an indoor turtle aquarium. it not only looks nice, it also fights algae growth, and provides food for the turtle.

Try finding pond stores. Most pet stores don't carry these types of plants, i have a hard enough time finding anacharis at a pet store. But pond stores are more likely to carry them.

I grew some water hyacinth last year. I put a plant in the tanks, and then put the rest outside in a container with a pump to agitate the water. It grew pretty well. The turts loved it.
I got it at local pond/koi place.

I buy aquatic plants at garden centers that cater to customers that have ponds. If you're planning on having them outdoors, water hyacinth (if legal) does well. But, it does not do well for long in an indoor enclosure (unless summer-like light and heat is provided). Duckweed is also good, as is anacharis (aquatic shops might sell the latter if it's not illegal in your state). Both are easy to care for, and turtles like to snack on them.

I have water lettuce and anacharis that I bought from a seller on eBay. I get my anacharis from the same person every time and it's always very hearty and long strands. I paid around $16 for 30 strands including shipping. The eBay seller is dealsbyjane. It takes her about 3-5 business days to ship but I think she grows nice anacharis. Bubba likes to float around on it and hang out on top of the strands. I think he eats it too.
