Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Im a bit concerned, I have a adjustable light stand with a turtle bulb and somehow while I was out the light slid down to the screen and she was basking in the high heat (I measured just over 100 degrees) Likley all afternoon

she seems fine and went into the water after the hot bask but im afraid she could get sick or something

I would appreciate any info as to what to watch for

thanks in advance

She'll be fine... 8) She probally enjoyed the little extra heat, and as long as she's acting normal (aka eating, basking, swimming,) I'm sure she's fine.

If you are really concerned pull her out and check her shell. When I was a very young boy I tried to own a RES and I had no idea what I was doing. My turtle basked in easily over 100 degree temps for months. Towards the later days she started to get little burn marks on her shell, but it was b/c of my own ignorance  ...Anyways I'm sure one day in the hot sun wouldn't do any harm...and heck, for all you know she might have only been up there for a couple minutes!
