How big are they (male/female) for each year? and when are they technically classified as adults

Technically, they are classified as adults when they reach about four inches. Or at least, at four inches they are out of the hatchling stage.

They grow between 2 and 4 inches in their first year, then one inch every year after that. This of course depends on the individual turtle, and their diet can effect it too.

I received my female RES about three years ago and she was just under four inches. Now she is just over seven inches. My male RES is about four inches and I've had him about a year and one-half. He was less than three inches when I received him.

My turtle, whom i think is turning out to be a female, was about the size of a quarter when I received her. 14 months later, she's just under 4 inches.
