WHILE HES BASKING HE STRETCHES OUT HIS BACK LEGS ALL THE WAY AND SLEEPS LIKE THAT FOR LIKE 3HRS THEN WHEN HE WAKES HE STARTS LIKE FLAPPING BOTH HIS FRONT AND BACK LEGS AND THIS IS ALL WHILE IHE IS STILL BASKING....IS THIS NORMAL AND BTW HE LOVES TO SLEEP UP THERE RATHER THEN IN WATER IS THAT NORMAL TOO???
MOMMY OF TURTLE FOR FOUR YRS...BUT VERY CLUELESS TRYING LEARN MORE ABOUT HIM...

they sometimes nap while basking... and the stretching of the legs is normal so that they can dry out. they look like they are doing some kind of yoga to me.

does he sleep in the water at night?

if he does not sleep in the water at night then i'd say there is a problem.

no i really dont think so because when i go to sleep hes in the water but awake and when i wake up hes in the water awake so i really dont know but i really never seen himsleep in the water

My two RES have slept stretched out with all four legs extended and I've seen them all tucked into their shells. In fact, I've seen my male RES tucked in and sleeping on his side in between the side of the tank and a rock.
