Cute! Looks like he has a really nice pattern on his plastron!
Looks like you don't have much water in there though. Fill that tank up! RES love to swim :)

It's a 50 gallon tank with about 15 gallons in it ... definitely "over his head" but yes, I guess I could raise the basking area and make it deeper. He's got a big pile of flat rocks to climb up on for a basking area so, more rocks and more water are now called for.

Somebody here said something to the effect of, 'when you go to a bigger tank, maintenance will be so much easier!' and yeah, I am delighted with this new, bigger tank!

I've been kind of taking it 'one step at a time'


Hey I just noticed something ... if you look at the reflection in the glass, you can see my husband, taking the picture.
