General Care Discussion :: A couple more questions

Thanks to everyone who answered the previous questions I posted. I'm working on getting some pictures posted.

I got a 55 gallon aquarium yesterday for Pepe, and he has much more room to swim around in now, I'm so glad that is done! And I found a great deal on Craigslist, which makes it even better.

A friend of mine was going to get me a turtle for my birthday this past summer, but I told her to wait until I got the finances to get the aquarium, etc. for it. Well, now, I ended up with Pepe (you can see that story in the introduction section), which was quite unexpected. So, now, she still wants to get me another turtle...but, considering Pepe is 4 years old and has always been in a tank alone, that'd be a bad idea, right? My friend has 2 turtles, and she insists it'd be ok, but I'm getting a vibe that I may end up waking up one more to an eaten baby turtle. Am I right?

Even if the turtles got along (that in itself is a crap shoot), you'd still need to quarantine the new one for 90 days, resulting in 2 complete setups.

jenaero is right, and u should never put an adult turtle in with a baby

Jenaero's completely correct. If you put in a new turtle with your current turtle, you'd not only be exposing your current turtle to everything that was in the new turtle's previous habitat, but you'd be putting that new baby turtle in a risky environment - Pepe's territory.

I have to concur with jenaero, its pepe's territory and would definetly not like the idea of an intruder

Thanks for the input. I'll just tell my friend no thanks to the baby turtle, I'd be horrified if something happened to either of them because of me putting them together.
