Hi,

After one of my two RES's died and I got a new one (you can read all about it here; http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewt ... 835#239835 )
The new one is ALWAYS at the basking area, sleeping!
Even when I come to give them food, he's not running away like the other one.

I see him at the basking area even in the middle of the night when the UVA/B/HEAT lights are off (and the water are worm as always)!!! he won't freeze??? the older one is in the water & the basking area - looks normal.

I tried one time to scared to new one to see if he knows how to sweam.... :oops:

And yeah, he knows. He acted normally in the water, but after I went out, he came back to the basking area. Why???

Water is fine.

trut - One of two things are going on. Either the water is too cold or he is sick. Try and get the water up to 78 degrees and see if he doesn't get in the water more. The eat and poop in the water. If that does not do it you may have a sick turtle. Maybe RI!

The water temp is 27C (= 80F)
How I could know if he has IR? he came with it from the store? oh no... not again....... :cry:

What should I do??

How long have you had him? Maybe he just isnt used to his new digs yet??

I had him for 5 days.

BY THE WAY:
Is it possible that maybe they are affraid from goldfish?
I got 4 goldfish in my tank, the came little but they got fatter and bigger...
I saw them chasing after the older turtle...

I'm sorry for your loss. Well, the photo doesn't show any sign of illness to me.
I'd suggest you clean the whole tank and don't get a second turtle. Pay all your
attention to the one remaining turtle. RES doesn't need a tank mate.

As for the goldfish, I don't think they pose any real problem. They're lucky if the
turtle doesn't shred their tails to snack on them. Goldfish is not a good treat
though; they're too fatty. Also, you might want to make sure that the turtle gets
its food instead of the fish eating first.
