General Care Discussion :: Fish food?

OK so I decided to put a couple of my guppies in with Penelope as a treat and he seems uninterested so my question is...
If I feed them fish food (I don't want to starve the little guys) is the food safe for the turtle?
I'm asking because Penelope is such a pig I'm sure he will try to eat it as soon as it hits the water...which is why I'm shocked that he hasn't gone for the guppys!!
Worse case scenario I put the guppys back in their tank but he is having fun chasing them...just no interest in eating them!!

I use little micro pellets to feed guppies in my turtle tank every once in a while. My turtle doesn't even realize it's there as I usually chuck him a piece of lettuce before hand.

I don't think your turtle will actually get to eat much of the fish food before the fish, if you're feeding them the right amount ^^

u rlu dont even need to feed them, i have 2 goldfish guppies and a blue gill in with my turtle and i dont feed them, they eat what the turtle doesnt helps keep it clean

my feeder fish will eat the left over turtle food in the tank....

Pen-o75 Fact of life! Turtles like to eat fish. Sooner or later they will be eaten. My turtles eat Reptomine turtle food and do well. I feed mine a fish twice a month with vegetables. You will need to add some calcium.

Thanks Everyone!! Mike - I do realize they will probably get eaten eventually although he stills seems only to want to chase them!! I just wondered if I should feed them in the mean time...He does eat pellets and romaine and some krill on occasion and I'm going to go get him a cuttlebone tomorrow (forgot it while I was at the pet store today)...I also use Reptisafe in his water for whatever calcium that adds...probably not much though!!! Just thought I might treat him to a fish or two on occasion as I breed the guppys myself and have plenty of them!!!

I rarely feed the actual fish in my turtle tank. They do fine picking through leftovers from the turtle most of the time ^^

But when I do, I distract my turtle even though he doesn't really see the fish food since it's so small XD

same here i never feed my fis with fish food. just turtle leftovers. which they seem to enjoy, they actually race to get the food before the turts do.

I have 10 goldfish and feed them their own food. My turtles love to eat the goldfish food once they are done with theirs. They have actually even begun to grow gold spots on their shell. The gold spots look nice and rare

The gold spots are probably just air trapped under, sign of the shell is starting to shed.
