General Care Discussion :: Thinking of taking Mappy to the Vet .

I am thinking about talking my Map Turtle (mappy) to the vet. He has 3 green marks on his shell and I am not sure what they are. I read here it could be alge.

However nothing else has changed about him . He still chases fish and follows my fingers around and all around active. No puss or anything to suggest RI or anything like that .

Should I risk taking him outside in this cold temps, to get a checkup when he could be ok.

Joe-smoo If you think it is algae you may want to try a soft tooth brush with some table salt and warm water and see if it will brush off. -- If you take your turtle to the vet do what ever it takes to keep him at the same temp you have your water. Turtles don’t do well when the temp goes up and down up and down. I carry mine, when transporting, in a bucket with a towel and a thermometer on the passengers side near the heater. I take him in, in the bucket. Good Luck

Well the worst that could happen is you spend $70 like me on a vet visit and they say nothing is wrong and it will put your mind to rest that somthing is wrong.
