Hey all, my male has fanning at times, though it doesn't last long. His entire penis sticks out. There's nothing wrong with that but I'm horrible afraid that one of the 3 females decide to give him a bitejob... Is it really going to be fatal or inflict a very serious injury to the male?

But they're all in one pond... And I don't have a tank. His thing only pops out once a while, and it disappears within hours.

A turtle has no compunction about biting any piece of another turtles parts. It could be serious or fatal.

Oh darn. But I can't seperate him forever... I've only got a 10 gallon tank! And that's like 10 times smaller than what's required! One other thing, my largest female likes biting the back feet of the two other females. What's up with that?

but in your case it could be a sign of aggression. and also it could be a sign tht\at its too cramped so they need more space

like blackforces said they biting feet could be signs of aggression UNLESS the biting only takes place during feeding time you can feed they separate to avoid injury.

How big is your pond??

The pond is a 500 gallon fiber glass. There's plenty of swimming space, a big sand nesting area, lots of vegetation for cover and large rocks for basking. I don't think it's because it is crowded. The big one just likes biting feet So if my male has fanning, do I just lift him out and place him in a tank till his penis goes back in?

To be on the safe side yes i would put him in a separate tank until it goes back in. But what are you going to do when your not home??

Goin by his sig 8, and even for a 500g pond assuming thats even accurate thats to much IMO.

Well I have 3 maids/helpers. But they aren't gonna' be around all the time. There are 3 adult females, 1 adult male, 1 young male, 2 young females. Damn this problem really sucks.
