General Care Discussion :: Twitching when basking?

This isn't anything new, my turtle has done this as long as I've had it so I figure it mustn't be anything serious....
After a little while of basking my turtle will twich its limbs or head, its kinda weird!

Anyone heard of this? Have similar experiences?

mine do that to, i always figured it was scales drying and getting stiff making them twitch to straighten them out. thats just a guess though.

mine does this on occasion, as well. such as when the ambient room temperature is above normal, making her basking area around 95 degrees. I think it's just the effect of a lot of heat, or it may just be itching when the skin starts to dry out.

I see it wet its little face when it starts to get dry Just dip the face in the water while still being on the basking rock, its cute

Sheba does it too. Sometimes she is sleeping, then starts thrashing at her face with one hand. I think all that dry skin gets a bit itchy.

LoL! I have also seen this... All of my turtles have done this at some point... So I would assume that it's nothing to worry about since so many have had this experience, although I don't think you were worrying anyways.
