General Care Discussion :: Behavior question

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I'm very new to turtle care and I had a few questions about behaviour. I've noticed my RES swims up to the glass, runs his/her nose into it and just stays there swimming against the side of the tank. Is this normal? Do I need to put something up agains the tank so she cant see thru it?
thanks.

yes, and yes.
:)

That is quite normal - all three of ours do it, and using an aquarium backing as you've suggested does seem to be the normal solution.

Hey e_pride!

I've experienced the same thing with my RES Charlotte. I've found this behaviour to coincide with the fact that she's hungry. It could also be your RES wants to get out and explore. Whatever it means for your turtle though, I've been told by others that this is perfectly normal behaviour :)
