General Care Discussion :: My RES has pale ears

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Sun Jan 10, 2010 5:05 am   My RES has pale ears

My RES is already 7 years old. Before this its ear is red in colour. However, now its more like a pale shade of red, not the usual bright red as before. Is it due to some kind of infection or is it just normal? Besides, its shell looks like its peeling a bit at the sides. Is it just dirt or is it really its shell peeling off? Is it normal? Should I scrub its shell in that case if its dirt?? Advice please. Thanks a lot.

It is normal for their color to fade as they age.

And as far as his shell goes sounds like he is just shedding you don"t want to force the scutes of by scrubbing.

p.s you have never seen your turtle shed in 7 years?
