General Care Discussion :: Pre mature mating?

So i just saw too of my turtles do that thing with their hands in front of each others face.

But my turtles are still so small they fit in one hand.
Is this a result of over feeding?

Snif - That is called fluttering and they do it to establish dominance or is a pre fight gesture. If it doesn’t escalate they are fine. The next step would be chasing one another or biting. Good Luck

Like mike said fluttering isnt just for a mating it also be a sign of your turtles trying to show which one is the dominant turtle of the tank.

So watch them to make sure they dont go into biting but otherwise there fine.

Dominance is one thing but it could be a male and a female you have. At young ages, males will still try to mate with the females. I've a 1 year old that does this to a 5 year old female who's three times his size!
