my baby has been basking more often ever since i got him a new platform. He seems to be shedding his shell and it's becomeing brownish green.

the only thing i'm really concerned about is the whitish yellow patches at the edges of the scutes. They don't smell bad and are not slimy so I don't think it's any form of fungus or shell rot. but just to be safe, can someone tell me if his shells okay?

HI, your turtles sort of look my turtles shells. It looks like your water quality has alot of minerals in it. These minerals can destroy metal faucets and wreak havoc on stucko walls from sprinklers. Imagine what they would do to a living creature that gets in and out of water and allows these minerals to dry and crack their living shells. Where I live I see these signs everywhere. I would say check your water and fix the mineral in it and make sure your water and filters are cleaned regularly. Also I notice your turtle has no "pyramiding" on her scutes, which means she gets enough calcium and veggies, but what do you feed them?

RES shells naturally go brown as they get older - they only stay really green for the first few years of their life. I don't think your turtle's shell looks abnormally colored at all. If you have drift wood in the tank, this can speed up that process a bit, but it'll lighten up with a shed of scutes.

Is your turtle in the middle of a shed right now?

All good, just needs to get the shed finished. Try a few extra blueberries here and there!

Oh, and nice, healthy looking turtle!
