General Care Discussion :: my turtle is stuck in the shedding process!!

Ok so i posted on here a while back about how my turtles shedding issue. and nothing. Since i got her back in September.... she still is having a problem shedding, its started but wont peal all the way off ive tried feeding her jello shots, fruits, veggies to help the process but nothing. so the other day her UVB? light blew and i noticed that it was only a 20watt. So i go into the store and they only have 26Watts, is this the reason why she isnt shedding? whats the proper wattage for that kind of bulb. im so worried that im doing something wrong.. why isnt my turtle shedding?? is there anything out there that can help her have a smooth shell for once? any help is wanted.... THANKS!!!

Shedding takes a long time, especially if the scutes have been retained for a while. I'm still waiting for my female to shed fully 2 years after I got her.
As long as her shell doesn't have any soft spots and is otherwise OK, just keep doing what you're doing.

The CFL UVB lights I've seen are usually 26W. There are also 13W CFLs. I haven't seen 20W, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. As long as you're sure it was UVB, and it was under a year old, I'm sure it did it's part to help.

ok thanks! that does help me out. so its really normal to shed that long... i cant wait to see what he shell looks like witout all those scutes sticking up. neither than that her shell is hard and healthy. thanks for the reply
