My filter came yesterday,along with it's new basking area but now my turtle all it does is try an squeeze between the filter and the glass I am guessing it like's the motor vibration is this ok just seems different.
MY FIRST TURTLE...Baby red earslider, saved it from being thrown away, it is about 2 inches long.More maintenance then I thought, with then a day or 2 I was running around grabbing the supplies.2.16.10- TAKING CARE OF A BABY RES IS ALOT OF WORK!

mine do that anytime I put something new close to the glass. It's like they have paths they travel against the glass and your filter is in his path. He will eventually go around but he may continue to do it under the intake or underwater just to hold himself from floating up when he rests, it's normal

RES are very curious creatures. Do make sure they can't get stuck anywhere because it does unfortunately happen.

I noticed that about the filter I had near the corner of the tank just moved it over some so he/she won't get stuck,but it seems like they like go into real tight places, I had to like baby turlte proof some stuff,had to watch it for a while and see what places he/she like to try in squeeze into.

mine also loves to squeez himself between the tank and the glass, and sometimes between the filter's cord and the glass itself! the cord can't hurt it because it's not that flexible..it's funny.
