General Care Discussion :: what can I do with the feeder fish?

I have kept 14 feeder fish for nearly 2 years. The biggest one is over 4 inches, and I believe it's still growing. They have tremendous appetite and consuming as much food as my turtle does....
I bought 4 dozens feeder fish 2 years ago. My turtle ate them, then when 14 left, my turtle stopped eating, ever since she has made friend with these 14 feeder fish, they live happily together....
But my problem is: food consumption is double, poop is also doubled, living space is reduce relatively, and after 2 years, I don't want to kills them!!!

Take them to a local fish store and trade them in on something for your turtle. Many places will take fish, some will pay you for them others won't.

The other option is putting them in a separate tank.. if you're ok with spending the cash.

If you can do a swap at the store, even if they're sold as feeders at least they had a good run!

I don't know any fish store, will Petco do the same thing?

Then make a post on craigslist and give them away.They may still end up being feeder fish, but you had good intentions.

yes Petco will take them, depending on what they are to what the petco has in stock they might not give you anything for them but they will take them and reselll them.
