My turtle has been digging nests for the last week yet she wont lay eggs in them!

Whats up with that?!?!?!?!?

She is digging her test nest. Is the soil deep enough? A rock could be in the way too and she'll stop.

if its inside that could be it. no one on here as far as i know has ever had success with an indoor nesting box

I would put her outside to nest if I could but the ground is frozen with ice and snow :(

I put soil and news paper mixed together (she is attracted to shreded news paper and I've had more success with her digging in the box now that it has the news paper in compared to when there was just soil.)

It is 3 inches deep
She digs an average of an hour a day (I counted 4 times she dug today) and it hurts me to see her trying so hard over and over again (she even closes her eyes at times and extends her legs)

How long is too long for the eggs to be in there, I really don't want her to get sick because of retained eggs :( :( :(
